Olivia starts kindergarten

This last week was Olivia's first week of kindergarten. Olivia has been looking forward to this day for a very long time. Especially since she never attended a preschool. I began looking forward to this day a few weeks back when Olivia started coming to me much too often saying that she was "bored."

Olivia & I went to school on Monday. Only 1/3 of her class was there and that allowed the teacher to make sure they understood the important thing (like where the restroom was, how to behave on the bus, etc.). I got to go meetings with all the other parents and learn about the PTC, attendance policies, etc.
(I promise that Carter's shirt really does fit him and that we all knew his flip flops were on the wrong feet...he occasionally refuses to put them on the right way.)

Olivia considered this her first day of school.

I would consider Thursday her first day of school (she didn't attend Tuesday or Wednesday since the other 2/3rds of her class had to attend on those days). The most exciting thing on Thursday was getting to ride the bus!

At the bus stop: Olivia, Jamie, Jesse, Alex (Jamie & Jesse are twins)
Olivia has been looking forward to riding the big bus for a year or more.
Yes, I cried.

After Olivia got home, I asked her what she did. Her response was, "Uhm, I don't remember."
Five minutes later she was complaining of bordem.
I can't win.

Aaron turned 30 last Monday!
I would have loved to have a little party for him to celebrate his birthday and the fact that his thesis was accepted and he's done with school. But I also wanted to give him what he really wanted...a big, fat...
nothing! Aaron isn't a "spotlight" kind of guy. At. all. So, we did what we usually do, just celebrate with our little family. The kids and I made him this little birthday poster. Can you guess what Olivia colored and what part Carter colored?

Okay, so we did get him a bag of Dorito's. He hadn't had those in a very long time!

Since we had cake for Carter's birthday the previous week, a cookie cake sounded good. Since I'm too cheap to buy one, and didn't want to totally screw up trying to make my own, we did very large chocolate chip cookies instead.

Well, I guess Aaron got more than Dorito's for his birthday. He did tell me that he wanted a framed picture of the kids for his desk at work.

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY AARON!

(Someday I am going to get you those craftsman tool drawers & a barbeque...someday!)

Carter & Haylee

We blessed Haylee in church this past Sunday. She did a very good job and didn't make a peep. Just stared at all the new faces. Aaron's parents, Grammy & Papa, came to visit this week too. Carter & Olivia had a great time with them!

Carter had a big birthday on Tuesday too. My little man is 3!

Carter really had a week full of fun. Among other things, he got to see Ice Age 3 in 3D (Thank you Grammy & Papa), go to McDonald's & go bowling.
He also got to break open a pinata. We had to do this in the garage because it rained all day on Tuesday.

Carter also got spoiled with a Car's cake. He loves that Lightening McQueen!
Happy Birthday Carter!
