July 2014

Kicked off July with an Independence Day party at the Scheidegger's!  We look forward to July 3rd every year for the fun get together that Corrie and Andy put together and for the Fairfield City Fireworks that we get to watch from their yard.

The weather was so nice and cool this year that we had to put on jackets.  Haylee loved the firework show!

On July 4th, we had family come into town and visit!

Jason, Diana, Bella, Savannah, Braden and Lincoln came to visit for a few days!

Aaron used up most of my fireworks that I had brought back from Utah.  It was a great show but very nerve racking with it being so close to our home.

The kids swam in Cosby's pool.

serious faces

We had loads of fun with face painting, snow cones, water slide, corn hole,

lots of games around the table,

and just hanging out!  (Carter with Jason's glasses)

Thanks for coming!

While Jason and Diana were here, we also got a visit from Trent, Brandy, Dalton and Alana Dodson!  It's always great to see them!

Olivia and Carter got to help Karen and Kasey Fuch's at the Miracle League fields by being buddies to special needs children while they played baseball.  They had so much fun and were so sad they only did it once before the season ended!

Aaron teaching the kids how to use his new power tool. Olivia was thrilled.

Aaron took the kids to Marsh Lake for some late night fishing.

Olivia caught something!
My morning runs can be pretty some days.

Aaron took his scouts on a hike around Cincinnati.

Clarissa and I went to the home show here in Cincinnati.  It was so fun to dream and hang out with her.

And act a little silly.

Carter and Olivia had their annual lemonade stand.  It was a total flop this year and the rain made them close up early.

I got some new running shoes for my half marathon in October.

Our family got to Face Time with Kylan one last time before he left for Guatemala.

I was so proud of Shonte' for not hiding in his suitcase and going with him.

Bye Kylan!   See you in 2016!

We took the family to Hueston Woods beach and it was a wonderful, wonderful day!
Haylee LOVED it!  As soon as we got there, she layed right down in the sand like this and had a swimming motion going on with her arms and legs.  She was certainly taking it all in!

So did Olivia!

So did Ryan!

And Carter....he jumped right in the water!

We had to keep a close reign on Haylee as she loves to wonder.

Ryan stayed in this one spot nearly the entire time.

Haylee loved knocking down the sandcastles that all the teens had built.

Haylee was in her element!

We met a bunch of friends there!

The weather wasn't too warm and there was a chance of rain (though we saw none) and so the beach was pretty bare.

Clarissa and I, snuggling the cold babies.

Beautiful Olivia!

We love our Ohio "family!"

All of our summer fun has left Haylee falling asleep at the Ipad more than once.

Mid July, Haylee started school at ABS in West Chester.

While doing a little school shopping, I found this jacket at a thrift store.  I'm always excited when I find something so cheap!

We are nearly done with our summer 2014 list!  We have since added Geocaching and driving the van to our list.

I finally found a granola bar recipe that our family loves!

Ryan LOVED helping Aaron push the lawn mower!

probably one of our biggest cucumbers from the garden.

Good-bye dear washer.  We need something a little more energy efficient!

And dryer that was given to us by Stephanie Oliger as a hand me down.  I hope this was the culprit of our high electric bills!

Hello my new laundry mat!!!

We picked our first watermelon from our garden!

I think I need to be educated on how to know when a watermelon is ripe enough to pick.

One last big thing that happened in July was Haylee getting dental work done.  Haylee had begun biting on things a few months ago and since that can be an indication of cavities and I have never been able to get her to sit through a regular check-up, I decided it was time to get serious about the dentist.  It was a few months before I could get into an in-network dentist that had experience with special needs children and so I took her to an out of network dentist to see what they said.  The dentist was able to see three cavities with her bare eyes!  Yikes!
After comparing prices with out of network dentist and in-network dentists, we decided we definitely needed to try and see an in-network dentist.  So I went to the walk-in clinic early one morning down town at Children's Hospital and waited a few hours there with Haylee so we could be seen and then get an appointment sooner because we would then be an established patient.  The dentist at the Hospital could also see a few cavities with his bare eyes and went ahead and scheduled her for sedation.  On sedation day, Aaron and I got there (two adults had to be present) and were in the waiting room by 7:30am.  About 20 minutes later, Aaron noticed that Haylee was chomping on a sucker that another little girl had either given her or Haylee had snatched.  Sad story is that when they called us back for her sedation and I told the anesthesiologist that she had eaten a sucker in the waiting room, they couldn't go through with any of the scheduled procedures.  We had to just pack up and go home and try another day.  Luckily, they had mercy on us and were able to get us in within a few weeks and we watched Haylee very carefully in the waiting room to be sure she didn't eat anything before her sedation!  We were successful that time ;)  Haylee got three silver caps on her bottom molars and one filling on her front top tooth!  Four cavities!  I'm so glad we got it taken care of.  Haylee ground her teeth a little bit the first few days after getting her new caps, but has since adjusted and isn't bothered by anything in her mouth.
