Fall Camping 2011

We got to go camping this past weekend with some great friends of ours, the Anderson's. This time we camped near Red River Gorge, KY. We had a great time and I know our kids did because we hadn't even been home for six hours before Carter began asking when we could go again.

We can never avoid mud when camping. And who would want to when it provides so much entertainment? Haylee laid face-down in it more than once.

This was an awesome "sand box" right in front of our tents.

Priceless

We even had a couple of lakes near our campsite that the kids got to cast some worms into.

I was told that the worms I bought were probably too big for the fish. Luckily, Carter got lucky though and ended up winding one in on the last day we were there. I'll post a picture of his exciting moment later.

Throwing rocks into the river.

We even did a little hike. Gorgeous!

At the end of our hike, there was a little rickety staircase down into a hole/cave.

Our camping crew (minus Heather, baby Jake and myself).

Aaron really wanted to try climbing out of the cave hole.

I've seen one too many falls though and made him get down.

Carter found these big ol' leaves on our hike.

Heather showed me up by starting a fire while the guys were gone fishing. I was totally impressed!

This was the cheering crowd!

How do I know it was a successful camping trip?

Because I can pretty much deal with anything when my kids sleep like this!
Even flaming toilet paper.

Sept/Oct 2011

In the middle of September, Carter got his green cast removed and (lucky him) got another new one put on! He chose red the second time around.

Carter got pretty comfortable with his second cast on and so it got soiled much more quickly than his first cast had. Here he is trying his hardest to pull down the lever so that Aaron's truck will jack up.

And this is why I didn't order school pictures.

Does this remind anyone of this episode of Friends?

Just two weeks ago, Carter got the big red dirt trap removed and was able to step-down to this brace! I love it because I can wash it and Carter loves it because he can actually wash his hands and write right handed now! He'll be in this for six weeks before being reevaluated.

Haylee continues to color in every (coloring) book within reach. She fills them up fast!

Olivia got to be in Fairfield's homecoming parade two weekends ago. She has been looking forward to this all season long. We could hardly see her as she passed us by because there were SO MANY cheerleaders on this huge trailer bed.

Can you spot her?

We often play hide-and-go-seek for FHE. I loved this hiding place that Aaron found. It took the kids forever to find him because he certainly was not at their eye level.
It was so funny to watch Aaron have to stand up there for over five minutes too!

We sure have enjoyed our raspberry plants this year!

I had to slide this picture in. I had never seen so much water accumulate in our rain gauge in such a short space of time. I believe it was in less than eight hours.

Before that rainstorm, we forgot to put the top on the sand table.

Our deck has been in serious need of some TLC the past few years.

Some before pics.

Some after pics.

I wanted to find a time when it was all nice and clean to take pics, but with kids...when does that happen?

Another successful job completed 95% by Aaron! I love my handy-man!
