more on baby Ryan

We had a great November!  Ending with a new baby is the best!
Shellee and Daniel came to Ohio the week of Thanksgiving and were ready to help out in case our little guy decided to come early.  I had also injured some ligaments with this pregnancy and so I needed extra help getting just the basics done around home and town as I was in a ton of pain and at times, unable to move.
I had a check-up on November 28th, the day before I was due and Dr. Johnson said it didn't look like I would go into labor for another week.  He told me that since I was in so much pain (percocet had become a dear friend for a few weeks) and had my sister leaving in less than a week, he would be willing to induce.  As much as I didn't want to induce, I knew that I had to take advantage of the help I had in town, so we planned the induction for November 30th at 10am.

Aunt Shellee took us all to eat at Firehouse subs before I got induced.

Shellee brought Haylee to visit us at the hospital while I was being induced.  Carter and Olivia were in school.
I went ahead and got my epidural before labor got too painful because it was getting really uncomfortable with those injured ligaments.  Only the first epidural wasn't working.  So...they did a second one.  Luckily that one worked great!  Around six or seven o'clock, the hospital room filled with nurses and the doctor as our little baby's heart rate had dropped.  They were watching it closely and told me that I may need to be quickly wheeled into surgery for a c-section.  There were lots of quick prayers said and luckily the nurses and doctor got me in a position that the baby seemed to like because his heart rate came back up.  After that, I didn't move again until it was time to push.  Oh, that position I was in was nearly laying on my stomach.  Luckily though, it wasn't too uncomfortable.   I know a c-section isn't a bad thing to have, I just didn't want to have one on my fourth child! I was scared, but God heard and answered our prayers.

Our little guy was born at 8:26pm.

The first night with our little Ryan left me very tired.  I finally woke Aaron up at 4am and asked him to hold the baby so I could get some sleep. Aaron rocked him for nearly two hours and when I woke up, Aaron told me he thought our little guy looked like a Ryan.  We had kind of planned to name him Tyler, but when Aaron told me that after having a few hours to spend with him, I knew that Ryan was the right name too!
Lots of phone calls were made.

The kids were very excited to come visit us the next day (Saturday, December 1st) and meet their new little brother.

I was surprised at how smitten Carter was since he hadn't shown a lot of interest during my pregnancy.

Haylee was fine with her new little brother, but wanted to climb all over me more.

Aunt Shellee was a pro with three kids to take care of...she took them out to eat a few times and even to Jungle Jim's where they stocked up on all sorts of goodies.
Aaron and I had planned to come home that Saturday, but Ryan still hadn't urinated after being 24 hours old and so they made us stay another night in the hospital until he had urinated a few times.
We were finally able to come home around 10am on Sunday, December 2nd.

Everyone wanted to have more time holding baby Ryan.

I caught naps whenever I could.

We are in love with this little guy.   I can't get enough of kissing his cheeks!

Unfortunately the day came that Shellee had to go home.  We were so sad to see her go, but so grateful she was here to help!

Haylee doesn't want to hold Ryan, but she does like to give him kisses on his head.

Olivia is a good little babysitter and could probably sit on the couch holding Ryan for hours per day.

Aaron catches a nap after helping out with the baby one night.
This is our new glider in the babies room...so much better than our last one.  We can actually catch a snooze in this one if we need to!

Carter is excited to have a little brother.

Our little Yellow Jacket can quickly go from this...
to this...
to this!

And he has a great Elvis lip!
We love you baby Ryan and are so  filled with joy that you have joined our family!
