Air Show Crash

Our Saturday turned out much different than what we had planned for. GE gave Aaron great tickets to the Dayton Air Show for today. After a nice lunch with the Bradley Family in Dayton, we planned to go to the Air Show for the last few hours and especially to see the Thunderbirds. As we were walking to our seats, we were watching the Mary's Lamb Show take place. Jim LeRoy's plane crashed right in front of us. The plane was coming out of what, I thought, looked like a free fall and it didn't come out soon enough, hitting the belly of the plane on the runway and sending it up in flames. It was shocking to view something like that in person. Fortunately, Olivia only knows that a man was hurt (not from a plane crash). The rest of the show was cancelled and so after gathering ourselves, we went to see some of the static planes they had on display. The best part of that for Olivia and Carter: getting to ride in the '1 child' stroller together. Kids are so easily entertained. We feel so bad for Mr. LeRoy's family though.

Olivia took an art class this summer at our local community center. At her last class, they made icecream sundaes. She loved putting her own toppings on her icecream.

From the icecream on his upper lip, I would say that Carter was happy to take part in Olivia's last art class too.

We found a new cage for our kids!

The Mary's Lamb show that we saw was quite loud. Olivia immediately stuck those fingers in her ears and didn't take them out until she had Carter to comfort her (in the stroller with her).

We did get to see the Osprey fly for a few minutes before the crash in the next show.

The Thunderbirds stayed grounded because of the crash. The runway was closed for several hours for investigation after the crash.

I love how your babies share the stroller...that is so sweet! You are such a good mom too with making ice cream sundaes and all the fun stuff you do with them! Your kids sure look like they have a lot of fun at home. We have been home all week and it has been so nice & relaxing...makes me want to stay home more often and especially stay out of the heat!

My goodness. What an accident you witnessed. Luckily you were able to shield you kids from the trauma. I'm glad your little family is ok.

Wow that is crazy. We missed you at the fam reunion. I am developing a Blog for the Whiteley clan. Would you be OK if we syndicated your blog on the Whiteley one? I think I will do this for ours so I only have to type things out once. Love the tys.

Don't you wish you could be a kid sometimes. Totally oblivious to horrible realities and so easily amused with the simple things in life like sharing a stroller or eating some ice cream. Although ice cream also entertains me quite often.
