Before pics (hopefully)

These aren't before pictures yet. Right now they are just pictures. Someday I would like to think that these will be before pictures though.
Since we painted every inch before we moved in, I don't want to hang anything on the walls unless I know it's going to be there for awhile. I have a vision of the things I want on various walls, but it will just take some time to accumulate those things for them.

I am working on something to hang on this big blank wall. Hopefully by the end of the year it won't be such an eye sore. (My interior designer once told me that having nothing on that wall is probably drawing more attention to it...I think Celeste is right.) Hopefully by the end of the year, I'll have an after picture for this one (if E. Kingrey has it in her to stick with me that long).

My visiting teachers (D. Chapin & S. Hales) gave me the idea for this mirror. It's a great place to hang Olivia's latest art work.

See, I told y'all. Same ol' furniture in rooms with blank walls. But it's home now and we love it.

So my list of things I want to do with the house has been dubbed my "someday list." It also includes other "someday" things I want to do in this life.

What's on your "someday" list?

I'm with you about fixing up the house. I have curtain rods, but no curtains in several of my rooms. I need to buy or make curtains someday. Along with replacing the kitchen floor, painting the downstairs bathroom, and . . .

hmm I am at the point where I don't want to do ANYTHING else to this house. But, I am sure I will try to find cheap ways to try and make our house more appealing to buyers. I do need to do some touch-up painting that I forgot about. I had to paint my "colorful" rooms nuetral colors and I have a bit of color in each room showing on the ceiling/wall line.
Good luck you two with your "wish lists"
BTW Shayleen..your house looks great! :D

lol...we painted our livingroom almost a year ago. it was my intention to finally get out the kazillion picture frames i've collected and fill the livingroom walls with family photos. i did make a new wreath and hung it over the fireplace but as of yet, there are still no pictures on the wall. i haven't even put the scarf back up over the window. but i'd rather have the freshly painted walls with no pictures on them than the walls in desperate need of painting with pictures on them. so don't feel like the lone ranger k? it's still progress!

I'm counting down the days until IKEA opens to finish decorate our place! Your house is too cute Shayleen, you've done a ton of work. Best wishes on your current sewing project, it's will be so great when it's finished. Let's see, on my someday list? A deck in the backyard, a fence, organizing our basement (my mom says I have to have my junk out of her basement by Christmas), and buying bedroom furniture. I'm sure there's more but I'm getting sad that this list is so long.

Your house looks great! So fabulous! It does sounds like its become more and more a HOME which is wonderful. I think you guys have ton a lot of great work already-best of luck with the rest of it. I think there's always a wish list of projects and decorations for a house. Mine is plenty long for sure.

I just had to laugh about not hanging stuff on the walls because I'm freak about it-probably because whenever we move I end up w/ giant boxes of wall stuff. I've even had to store some away now because I've totally ran out of wall room-oops! But I still want more things and different things to hang out and can't wait till then either. What you need for that big wall is a wreath from the 'wreath guy', that's what we call him. He's AWESOME and super cheap, he's up in Ogden. I'm sure there would be something perfect for you there.

Don't worry about messing up a wall if you hang something wrong. Its really easy to patch w/ some simple puddy or white toothepaste but ALWAYS remember to PRIME its first then paint over it, if you don't you'll totally see little dots all over, believe me and a painter (John) So don't worry things can be fixed.

I'll keep my list short because I'm tired and need to go to bed but we totally want to recover our couch (remember the orange plaid one) and we have major remodeling plans for this small house (John's been drawing them out), and next week I'm overhauling our yard and gardens because its free dump days here! Yeah!!! :] have a blast!

Love, Chelsea

Very fun blog entry! I enjoyed seeing pictures of your house. It's kinda funny because now that we are going to be selling the condo soon I have been putting up a couple more things on our bare walls...what a waste of time and I will have to patch them after. You saw our living room...there is a ton of bare wall space with 1 picture of our family that was put up during Christmas when we had a tree up...now it looks a little dumb! But your house looks great and you are lucky to have a HOME :) I can't wait to move!

Let's see, we tore up the floor in our downstairs bathroom before we moved in 4 1/2 years ago. We have yet to replace it.

I've learned in the last 4 1/2 years that the key to happiness is to lower my expectations of such things.

We literally just hung pictures in my bedroom. Oh well.

Well, my list would put all yours to shame. Which bedroom looks most like a room and less like a storage space? Madeline's. My bedroom is the one with the ceiling ladder in the corner with clothes on it (eventually it will go in the hallway ceiling-but not today)!
