Mr. Independent

Carter never ceases to amaze me with all he can come up with in his working, ever-working mind.

I never thought I would have a problem with Carter getting into the "goodies" (scotch tape, chapstick, glue stick, stapler, gum, etc.) when I put moved them from the very accesible drawer to the high cupboard...WRONG!
I should have known it wouldn't be long for him to figure out the "push a kitchen chair to it and anything is possible" tactic.

Mr. Independent has learned the art of putting on his own underwear. What an art it is! I tried to help, but I didn't want to make him too mad and so I quickly gave up.
(ps, I know I will someday pay dearly for posting this pic...it's a price that I'm willing to pay for now.)
(pps, Putting on his own underwear does not equal potty trained...yet.)

I think he's related to his counsin, Lincoln Lunt!!! hehehe! He is always pushing a barstool right up to any kitchen cupboard he wants to get about anything he wants. As I've noticed Braden has been involved in these feats also. But I think Lincoln is THE most strong willed in this category but you might want to check with his parents to see which one wins the prize!!!

They (Jason and Diana) now put the stools upside down on top of their dining room table to try to deter their efforts in pushing them all over the place!

Hang in there, Shayleen! I'm sure these personality traits he's exhibiting will pay off to a large degree some day! ?? (Nobody will push him around or something like that.)

Just keep looking at him and seeing how darling of a face he has. Remember, too, to sneak a peek when he's sleeping. That may help to fortify your reservoirs as well for the coming day. :-)

I too hate that chair tactic. It's a sad day when they realize that. I love the underwear picture. He is such a cutie.

That's great to see all of those pictures, from the cabinet to the underwear! Kaylie pushed our ottoman all around the house to gain access to whatever she wants. Lately it is Halloween candy, but usually it is apples in the fridge (which I had to put up higher because she will pull out & eat 3-4 at a time). As for the underwear, she usually asks for help, but if she doesn't it looks just as nice as Carter's job!

That kid is amazing. That last picture will give you lots of ammo when he later tries to bribe you... :)

Shayleen--I am so happy about Olivia's good news for her hips. How wonderful! You need to tell us about these upcoming appts. so we can pray for you! Carter is definitely doing his job as a two year old. (Honestly, I think it's a good thing-it shows independence and a little mind that's always thinking) I can say that because my kids are bigger now! Now, the thing I can't figure out is how little boys can wear their underwear backwards nearly everyday and not be bugged by that. Everybody know the picture on the back of underwear is way cooler than what's on the front, but is the discomfort really worth it?! Max thought so until he was about six. --Love you! Shonte

I haven't looked at your blog for awhile and I feel so disconnected from your family. I love the backward underwear. That is a must have in his wedding video. P.S. I don't remember if I told you thanks for your tips on church activities. You had a ton of great ones.
