A day of play

Was Wednesday great for you? We sure enjoyed ourselves on Wednesday because here in Fairfield, Ohio, we got some good snow!!! We haven't been able to play in the snow for months and even though it was 23 degrees outside, we had fun. I never thought I would really enjoy shoveling the driveway, but I did. I would go out and do it again (it does need it), but instead of snowing outside today, it's raining.

Olivia was so exciting to make Frosty with her "Frosty kit" she got for Christmas. I was prepared to make her big one, but after trying and trying to get that snow to pack, I gave up and made a mountain-type Frosty.

Later in the day, after some hot-cocoa and thawing out, Aaron caught the kids playing doctor. Carter lays very still so that Olivia can hear his heart and then he gets a turn as Olivia plays the part of the patient.
Both received a clean bill of health!

Here's to L-O-V-E

We had a great Valentine's day and I'll tell ya, as Olivia gets older, it's fun to start traditions! She really got into the doorbell ditching this year. We left cookies for a couple of neighbors and she hid so quietly with me in the cold while we waited for our neighbors to close their doors so we could run back home! She was especially excited when we got home and someone (me) rang our doorbell and ran away, leaving her some of her favorite things on the doorstep.
Valentine's Day is a great day to do homemade sugar cookies! Carter has never participated in frosting anything before. He did it exactly as he is supposed to though...following the example of his older sister...

The frosting is better from the butter knife than from a cookie (which only dilutes the sugar taste).

We had some friends join us for the frosting and SPRINKLES action. Rachael is a pro with the sprinkles and so she was Olivia's tutor when it was Olivia's turn to sprinkle.

Just like last year, we had sesame seed chicken (one of Aaron's favorites) by candlelight with the whole family. Only my timing with finishing dinner, Aaron getting home and the kids being hungry, didn't work out. So...we had to start dinner without the man of the house.

Aaron made up for being late though (or maybe this was the reason he was late)!

A few crafts and a little love

These are the new birthday presents for my primary children. I bought lots of presents back in December and they turned out to be duds. After seeing these on sugardoodle and finding the vinyl lettering fairly inexpensive...my presidency and I are making these instead...hope the kiddies like them!

My big blank wall is blank no more!

I finished my first pieced quilt and actually (now that it's done) enjoyed it. This is a picture of my "meandering"...I had to get creative because my meandering apparently didn't look like meandering!

Thanks for all the sympathy I received on my last post about Carter being sick. He is better now. While he was in recovery though, I did find another remedy for him. Giving him one dorito at a time wasn't cutting it.

And here's the little love! I love sweet moments like this one...finding my two kids on the stairs and Olivia was reading him a book while he sat so content to listen.

Carter's Remedies

Carter has had a rough couple of days. From not being able to breath at night to sounding like a barking seal to the cold, cough and ear infection he has now. Oh, and let's not forget the three shots he got today at his 18-month-old check-up. What is going on? So much for me trying to get him sleeping through the night! Luckily, we do have a few remedies that help him feel better:
Ice Cream! It worked like a charm to help the fat lip he received from taking a long, hard fall down the stairs.

Chapstick (or stick glue...according to Carter, they have the same healing effect.)

Going Outside!

I wonder when he'll slow down enough that I can add "watching a movie" to this list.
