King's Island

Two weeks ago Aaron and I took the kids to King's Island for the first time. They were so excited to go and had been looking forward to it for weeks. Aaron and I were looking forward to no lines and great weather. Ha! The park was only open to GE and a few other companies, but it was slammed. At least we did get the great weather we had been looking forward to.

We started out on all the kiddy rides

Low thrill ratings were okay.
(I do love it when Carter and Olivia show their love for one another.)

We worked our way up the thrill ratings. And we soon found out that we have two little thrill seekers! Especially Olivia. Any ride that she was tall enough for, she went on and the faster it moved, the more she loved it. She was disappointed that she couldn't go on several of the huge roller coasters.

I hope my kids know how much I love them by the places I found to nurse Haylee. Haylee and I survived though :) After getting some "healthy" dinner, the long lines eased up a bit.

Aaron has never been much for amusement parks. I used to love the rides, but don't have the stomach or back for them anymore. I think Olivia is following in my footsteps though. She did not want to leave the park. Carter likes to think that he has the stomach for amusement parks, but in the end, he didn't ;)
The scrambler almost did me in.

Haylee, my little angel, did so good at the park all day!

At the end of the day.
Do you think they had fun?

gizzards & duds

My mom and dad came to visit us a few weeks ago. It was great! My dad hasn't been to Ohio since Olivia was just a year old and it was fun to show him our house and such. We didn't get out and do anything real exciting since Olivia was in school. But, my dad did take Carter and Olivia on a couple of pretty big bike rides (for their little legs) and they LOVED it.

Speaking of love...my parents brought out this new light weight back pack for Aaron and he loves it. Aaron is really itching to go back packing now.

We are all loving the fan that my dad helped to install in our basement bathroom. Aaron even got to cut a hole in the side of the house for the exhaust.

My dad helped Aaron install some more outlets in the basement too. We were excited to get rid of all the extension cords we had running around the basement for the tv, deep freeze, etc.

My mom spent most of her time caring for Haylee. She even substitute taught Olivia's primary class on Sunday.
You can tell that my dad was kept very busy with home improvement projects and bike rides.
Thank you mom and dad! Miss you guys already!

ps Carter now likes to pretend that he's been shot in the "gizzard." He also claims that most dandy lions are "duds" when he blows on them and the seeds remain in place.
If you don't know where he learned those terms, I'll give you one guess...

Happy Blog Birthday

My blog celebrated it's fourth birthday last month. I love having a blog. It makes me feel less guilty for not keeping a good journal and for not being "into" scrapbooking. Here's some random pics...

Aaron and I gave Carter a little rocket for his birthday and since it didn't work, I exchanged it for this get-up (Carter's pick). He does really good on the carpet, but they roll really fast on the hardwood. So fast that the rest of his body has a hard time keeping up with his feet.

They DO love each other.

Around nap time, Carter began pouting about something (I've since forgotten what that was) and then crawled under my computer desk. I did what I usually do, ignore it. It worked perfectly on that day.

Since we moved into our home, I've wanted a purple colored Rose of Sharon bush for our yard. I got it a few weeks ago. There are lots of plants that have sentimental meaning to me and this is one. My Grandma Johnson had one of these in her yard and would show me how to make dancing dolls from them. I was so excited to show Olivia how to make them and tell her that I used to make them when I was little.

We didn't have any pretty blooms left on my little bush after that. Oh well. When it gets bigger, it will have plenty of blooms to make dolls with.

One of my friends sent me this headband for Haylee. Now when we're out, she won't get mistaken for a boy anymore. Thanks Katie.

As Carter and I were eating breakfast one morning, he turned to me with chocolate frosting all over his face from his Boston Creme Pie toaster strudel, and asked if breakfast would make him "strong and healthy." Yes son, that is what Pillsbury is for.
